We created America Is Revolting.

We’re just two people

Artists. Business owners. A couple. Californians. Americans. Millennial, Cusp, Gen X. Xennial, if you like.

We never thought too much about “activism” or our government

Only when it severely disappointed or massively made sense. Why? Because it generally worked for us: two white, middle-class, pretty privileged people.

We never felt much about “being” American

Never aligned with the excess-red-white-blue version of “patriotism.” American holidays mostly seemed like capitalism on display—phoning it in with a fun outfit, fireworks, and an excuse to booze.

We noticed our citizenship most when we traveled outside the U.S.

We saw we weren’t as exceptional as we’d been told. We removed the rose-colored glasses we didn’t realize we wore.

We saw what the world expected Americans to be: Loud. Arrogant. Obnoxious. Rich. We saw how many Americans actually behaved:

Poorly, at best.

Now, here at home, we see how revolting America can be

This is not the America we want.
This is not the America we expect.
This is not the America we are.

So we’re doing what we do best: Using creativity to push back

To resist this regime.
To resist MAGA.
To resist what they stand for:
White supremacy. Racism. Misogyny. Sexual abuse. Homophobia. Corruption. Violence. Hatred of any “other.” All under the guise of “Christianity.”

How very revolting of us.
